“American Animal” director Matt D’Elia prepares “A Void” – AFM

Visit Films will represent the global rights to the horror thriller A Void, the latest film from “American Animal” director and star Matt D’Elia.

The film will be presented to buyers in the US film market next week, and production begins in 2023.

A Void focuses on troubled lovers Sarah and Nick, urbanites and lifelong intellectuals, who move from city to country to start a new chapter. As their pent-up trauma becomes more apparent, so do cracks in their relationship. These problems are only exacerbated when they encounter a mysterious anomaly in their property: an inexplicable black void that, according to all the laws of physics, should not and cannot exist – however, there is.

As Sarah and Nick try to make sense of what they’ve found, strange and terrifying events begin to occur, both in their dreams and in their waking lives.

“Void” written by Delia. The film stars Aya Cash (“The Boys”), Joshua Leonard (“The Blair Witch Project”) and Alison Bell (“Hail Caesar”) and will be directed by Adam Mitchell (“The Scary of Sixty-First”), Mark Rapaport (“The Scary of Sixty-First”) and Amanda Kramer (“Ladyworld”).

The visual effects are by Jeremy Cox (“Many Saints in Newark”), while the sound design and score are by Brett and Alex Brown of Rubidor (“Negative Legacy”).

D’Elia made his directorial debut with “American Animal,” which premiered at SXSW in 2012 and was acquired by Screen Media Films for theatrical release in May 2013.

Delia said, “I couldn’t be more excited to make my movie, ‘Void.’ With the uncertainty surrounding us these days – everywhere we look, in all shapes and forms – I think this is the best possible time to make this kind of movie. thrilled that Visit Films is to show the film at AFM, and to help bring “A Void” to audiences around the world.”

Brooklyn-based Visit Films, founded by Ryan Kampe, operates with both domestic and international fare. The company secured the MTV Docs and Paramount deal for the Academy Award-nominated documentary “Ascension.” Visit “Down With the King” to Sony Pictures Worldwide, “The Storms of Jeremy Thomas” to Cohen Media Group, and “First Date” to Magnolia Pictures.
