iPhone 15 Pro may not have any physical buttons

Apple could opt for solid-state volume and power buttons on next year’s flagship models.

While Apple has made frequent improvements to this year’s iPhone 14 lineup, we may see some major changes in the iPhone 15 series next year. Apple recently confirmed that it will abandon the Lightning port in future iPhone models, and the iPhone 15 series may be the first to launch with USB-C ports. In addition, Apple could drop the power and volume buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, according to a recent report by popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Ku claims that Apple can “Adopting a solid-state button design (similar to that of the iPhone 7/8/SE2 & 3) home button design to replace the physical/mechanical button design.” On two advanced iPhone 15 models. The new solid-state buttons are said to come with additional Taptic Engines to provide haptic feedback on button clicks, like the Force Touch trackpad on recent MacBooks, increasing the number of Taptic Engines used in each iPhone from one to three. .

Kuo also adds that Android OEMs are likely to adopt a similar approach at flagships after Apple’s announcement. However, it is worth noting that Apple will not be the first to replace the physical buttons with its smartphones. Before its sudden demise, LG was working on two smartphones without buttons – the canceled rollable LG and the LG Velvet 2 Pro. Both devices feature pressure-sensitive pads in place of physical buttons to control volume and turn the screen on or off.
