Penelope Cruz Drama “L’Immensita” Bought by Music Box

Music Box Films has purchased the US distribution rights to “L’Immensità” and Emanuele Crialese (“Respiro”).“) Film starring Penelope Cruz.

Crialese, which competed at the Venice Film Festival, will be released in US cinemas next year. Cruz plays Clara, a Spanish woman who moved to Rome in the early 1970s to raise a family with Felice (Vincenzo Amato), her emotionally distant and often absent husband. From their new apartment, Clara sees a city in transition: the remnants of an old society washed away by the tastes of an emerging middle class. Although the paint is new, and the hardware is new, overwhelming expectations about family, desire, and sex remain as traditional as ever.

Likewise, Clara’s three children are standing on the edge of a precipice, on the verge of adolescence and its myriad complications. Her eldest child, Adriana (played by newcomer Luana Giuliani), yearns for another life – a huge, fulfilled, vibrant vision of a world in which he lives simply as the boy he knows he is. Without an acceptable vocabulary to talk about sex, Andrea simply tells the adults that it’s an alien from another galaxy.

“L’Immensità” It was warmly received at the premiere in Venice. miscellaneous The review said: “Strange for Crialese, it affects the layers of memory parts of the world as it is, and could be in the same gilded setting.”

The film was produced by Wildside, a Fremantle Company, and Chapter 2, a Mediawan Company, and co-produced by Pathé. The deal was negotiated by Brian Andreotti of Music Box Films with CAA Media Finance and Marie-Laurie Monterone of Pathé Films, Executive Vice President of International Sales.

Music Books recently acquired the US distribution rights to highlight another play from Pathy, Alice Winocour’s heartfelt drama “Paris Memories” which premiered at Cannes in Fortnite and was shown in Toronto. “Paris Memories” was one of the five finalists for the French participation in the 95th Academy Awards.
