Ash Ketchum Becomes the Best Pokémon Trainer in ‘Ultimate Journeys’

It took 25 years, but Ash Ketchum finally became the best, like no one before.

The Pokémon Company announced on Friday that 10-year-old Ash, the hero in the animated series “Pokemon,” has officially been named the best trainer in the Pokémon world. Ash and Pokémon pal Pikachu achieved their long-awaited goal during the final episode of “Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series,” as the iconic duo won the Masters Eight of the Pokémon World coronation series.

From battling countless gym leaders to stopping Team Rocket, Ash and Pikachu have faced many challenges since starting their Kanto journey in the 1997 “Pokémon: Indigo League” series. After a lot of hardship, Ash was named Pokémon League Champion. The first ever in the 2019 Pokémon series: Sun and Moon.

In the final season of “Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series,” Ash and his team are tested in intense confrontations with highly skilled trainers. The historic win in the Pokémon World Coronation Series is the culmination of Ash’s 25-year adventure.

Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series is available to stream on Netflix in the US. The final episode premiered on Friday in Japan and will be broadcast worldwide in the future.
