1923 Introduction: Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in Yellowstone Spinoff

Paramount+ has shared a first look at ‘1923’, the upcoming limited series of ‘Yellowstone’ starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as the Dutton family leaders Jacob and Kara.

“Violence has always haunted this family,” says the narrator in the trailer. Follow us here. And when he doesn’t follow through, we chase after him. We are seeking it.”

The new series is scheduled to run for two seasons, each consisting of eight episodes. “1923” explores the West in the early twentieth century, when epidemics, historical drought, embargoes, and the Great Depression all plagued the frontiers the Duttons call home.

In addition to Ford and Mirren, the series stars Brandon Sklinar, Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Amina Nevis, Julia Schleifer, and Jerome Flynn.

“1923” is the second prequel to Taylor Sheridan’s successful series “Yellowstone” after “1883,” which starred Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill and aired last winter. A third minor movie, titled “6666” and set in present-day Texas, is also in development and will premiere on the Paramount Network.

The trailer’s release was timed with the season 5 premiere of “Yellowstone,” which airs the first two episodes of its new season on Sunday night.

Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions, “1923” was produced by Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David C. Glaser, Ron Burkell, David Hotkin, Bob Yari, and Ben Richardson. The series will premiere on December 18 at Paramount+.
