The firings at CNN are expected to affect HLN

CNN’s cost-cutting efforts are expected to have significant impacts on cable network HLN, according to three people familiar with the matter, with potential ramifications for one of the longest-running morning programs in the country.

HLN, the cable network formerly CNN Headline News, is home to an array of true crime series and endless shows from “Forensic Files” and “Morning Express with Robin Meade,” with a host working for the network since 2001. Now, it’s all under a microscope.

CNN executives are expected to notify at least a portion of HLN’s staff about the network’s layoffs Thursday morning, according to those people, and there is speculation that Warner Bros. Discovery, CNN’s parent company, could turn oversight of the network into a different operation. Executive from Chris Licht, CEO, CNN.

A CNN spokesperson declined to comment.
