2023 BET Image Awards Date Announced (TV Roundup)

The 54th Annual NAACP Image Awards has revealed the schedule of events, leading to a live broadcast from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California, on February 25, 2023. The ceremony will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET on BET.

The 54th NAACP Image Awards will feature three new categories under the Film, Television, and Live Broadcast categories, including Outstanding Hairstyling, Outstanding Makeup, and Outstanding Costume Design. Candidates will be announced on January 12, 2023.

“Over the past year, we’ve seen Black artists showcase our history and elevate progressive change, while redefining genres and bringing our stories to the forefront of entertainment in many innovative ways,” NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson said in a statement. “Black voices are essential to continually inspiring audiences around the world. We are proud to once again provide a platform that elevates and celebrates these voices with the 54th NAACP Image Awards.”

BET President and CEO Scott Mills added, “BET is extremely proud to continue our longstanding partnership with the NAACP and amplify its endeavor to honor the amazing contributions made by the Black community. We look forward to celebrating Black Excellence at the Image Awards next year on all of our platforms, and honoring those who help tell the story Our diverse stories in powerful ways.”

The host for the 54th NAACP Image Awards has yet to be announced. Online voting begins January 12th and runs through February 10th.

“I Hate Suzie Too” will return for a three-episode second season on December 22 on HBO Max.

The British drama series follows Susie Pickles (Billie Piper), a child star turned actress who dances on the reality TV competition show ‘Dance Crazee’. In this three-part special Against Christmas, Suzy struggles to win back the audience’s love while dealing with her own personal struggles.

The series is written by Lucy Prebble and co-created with Piper, while Dawn Shadforth directed all three episodes. Prebble and Piper executive produce alongside Andrea Dewsbery, Bad Wolf’s Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter.

Billy Crystal “Mr. Saturday Night: A New Musical Comedy” is broadcasting exclusively on BroadwayHD.

Based on the 1992 comedy film of the same name, the Crystal musical stars as Buddy Young, Jr. , the outspoken comedian who has one last shot at regaining the limelight while mending his relationship with his family.

“Mr. Saturday Night: New Musical Comedy” was filmed on August 31 at the Nederlander Theatre. Along with Crystal, the musical-comedy features Randy Graff, David Beymer, Shoshana Bean, Chasten Harmon, Jordan Gelber, Brian Gonzales, and Melinda Hull.

The Paley Media Center has announced the first program selections to celebrate the 40th anniversary of PaleyFest.

The first shows confirmed include “Abbott Elementary,” Disney+’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” The Mandalorian, and Paramount Network’s “Yellowstone.” The Bali Center will reveal the full line-up for the festival on January 17.

PaleyFest will take place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood from March 31 through April 4, 2023.

Hulu has renewed “The D’Amelio Show” original documentary series for a 10-episode third season.

The series revolves around the lives of Mark, Heidi, Dixie, and Charlie D’Amelio, including their public relations and private struggles. “The D’Amelio Show” is produced by Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman on behalf of the Intellectual Property Corporation, with Executive Producer Sarah Reddy.

Shumri Luv has joined the cast of the upcoming WE series “Kold & Windy.” The drama series follows hip-hop star and gravure Malika (Shakka) as she tries to create a better life for herself and her son on the South Side of Chicago. Love will play Dirty, one of Shelly Winter’s (Kaja Brielle) henchmen.

Love recently starred in the Saban Films thriller Take the Night. Other credits include “Maya and Her Lover,” “On Our Way,” and guest appearances on “The Chi” and “Black Lightning.” Love is represented by Bold Management & Production and Katz Public Relations.
