The event, which was held at a private residence on Miami’s The Palm, included a panel discussion moderated by Mr ARTnews Editor-in-Chief Sarah Douglas talks about the intersections between the art and consumer luxury goods industries, the rapid expansion of the art industry, and how social media and the Internet in general are changing how artists are discovered, screened, and eventually signed by galleries.
Among the speakers: a textile artist Qualisha Woodwhich appeared on the cover Art in Americarelease of new talent last year; Cindy Susilo, director of marketing for Roche Bobois, who recently teamed up with Wood on a A unique BUBBLE sofa Titled A Seat by the Window (But You Can Sit Next to Me); Arthur Lewis Creative Director of the United Talent Agency for Fine Arts And the ARTnews Top 200 collectors; and Devon Rodriguez, an artist from the Bronx, New York who has gained a massive following on social media through His photorealistic depictions of commuters on the New York City Subway.
Guests enjoyed the evening with a selection of whiskey tastings, Old Fashioneds from Glenfiddich, cocktails from Brugal and wines from Penfolds.
