Jane Fonda in remission from cancer: ‘I feel so blessed’

The “Grace and Frankie” star announced Thursday that Jane Fonda’s cancer is in remission Instagram.

“Best birthday present ever!!!” Fonda wrote, who turns 85 on Dec. 21. “Last week my oncologist told me my cancer was in remission and I could come off chemotherapy. I feel very, very lucky. Thank you all for praying and sending good thoughts my way.”

The two-time Academy Award winner was previously taken Instagram September 2 to announce her diagnosis of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and to begin a six-month journey of chemotherapy. She assured her followers that the cancer is “very treatable” and has a survival rate of 80%.

In her final article, Fonda said her last chemotherapy session was one of the hardest, and she described how exhausted she felt over the next two weeks. But on December 2, Fonda managed to show up in Washington, D.C. for Fire Drill Fridays’ first live rally—a project Fonda built in 2019 with Greenpeace USA. During her medical treatment, Fonda continued her climate change activism, coordinating weekly gatherings virtually and now in person through the nonprofit.

“The effects wore off completely when I went to D.C. for my first live gathering in person for Fire Drill Friday. Thank heavens for that because it’s been a busy week,” Fonda continued in her post. Alongside the rally, I’ve done some lobbying and spoke twice at the Democracy Coalition all in an effort to stop Sen. Joe Manchin’s side deal that climate activists call the dirty deal. Dubbed “Allow Fix,” that deal seeks to expedite fossil fuel projects, and is catching up. significantly harm basic environmental protections and limit the public’s ability to access inputs, essentially placing the burden of fossil fuel pollution disproportionately on marginalized communities.”
