Samsung may look to extend its Camera Assistant app to other Galaxy models

If you’re wondering if the Samsung Camera Assistant app will make its way to other Galaxy devices, the company has somewhat intrusively.

A few months ago, Samsung launched its own Camera Assistant app, giving users more control over their cameras on the Galaxy S22 series phones. Since then, other Galaxy S series owners have been wondering when or if their devices will also receive the camera app. While we don’t have a complete answer yet, we now know that Samsung is listening, and has some plans for the future.

A moderator on the Samsung Community forum was able to shed light on those curious as to when the beta version of the Camera Assistant app will be expanded. When asked if the app will come to other phones, the moderator replied that the software is currently being tested on the Galaxy S22 series and that there will be a “separate announcement” regarding other phones.

This wasn’t, of course, a really satisfactory answer if you’re a Galaxy S series device owner and waiting for the Camera Assistant app, so others asked for more details about a future announcement and the moderator responded with “we’ll try to ‘support as many models as possible’ and ‘we’ll review back what If it is better to do a beta test on more models in the future. While this doesn’t give much clarity, we hope Samsung is really looking forward to expanding it to more devices in the near future.

The Camera Assistant app offers toggles for better control over HDR and auto softening, and will also use your camera to automatically choose the best lens when you take a photo. Moreover, you get the option to limit the number of shots taken when using the self-timer and increase the shutter speed when taking pictures of fast-moving objects. These are just some of the sample features available in the Camera Assistant app.

While these new settings aren’t revolutionary, they certainly give Samsung users more options when it comes to taking photos that don’t cost any extra money. Are you excited to see this app land on other Samsung smartphones or have you switched to a third party camera app? Let us know in the comments below.
