The Galaxy Watch 4 update brings camera zoom controls and more to the old smartwatch

The update also introduces a new device diagnostic tool

Samsung announced an update to the Camera Controller app for the Galaxy Watch early this month to give users access to the zoom controls on the smartwatch. The update arrived with firmware version R910XXU1AWA3 for the Galaxy Watch 5 shortly after the announcement, bringing camera zoom controls, January 2023 security patches, and a new device diagnostic tool to the latest Samsung Wear OS smartwatch. Samsung has now started rolling out a similar update to the older Galaxy Watch 4.

According to user reports on redditSamsung has released a new Galaxy Watch 4 software update (firmware version R860XXU1GWA3). It brings a new Camera Controller feature, allowing users to adjust the camera zoom level on their smartwatch by rotating the bezel or using the pinch-to-zoom gesture.

The update also includes a new device diagnostics tool that helps users Check the correct functioning of the Galaxy Watch battery status, touch screen functionality, etc. on the connected phone. With updated versions of Samsung Members and Galaxy Wearable apps. Unfortunately, the change mentioned in the screenshot does not reveal whether the update includes the latest security patches. Samsung has not yet updated its official update bulletin, so we cannot confirm the security patch level.
