WWE NXT’s Grayson Waller is drawing comparisons to AEW’s MJF

It didn’t take long for Grayson Waller to make a name for himself after his WWE NXT debut, and since he’s gone on to become one of the brand’s most entertaining stars. Waller never shies away from confrontation and always speaks his mind, even if it’s to NXT President Shawn Michaels. This has led to some comparisons to the AEW MJF World Champion, who is one of AEW’s most popular superstars and has no problem telling people what’s on his mind as well. ComicBook.com’s Connor Casey had a chance to talk to Waller about these comparisons, and while they both know how to speak on a microphone, Waller feels the similarities don’t go much further than that.

When asked if he’s met an MJF and what he thinks of the comparisons, Waller said, “No, I’ve never met that guy, but I don’t get the comparisons in a lot of ways. I guess just because we’re both good at talking and saying what we want are the same thing?” I think. We are very different individuals, but I respect the hell out of him and what he does.”

“You know he gets out there and says what he has to say and he doesn’t apologize. I love that energy. I think a lot of people in the industry are laid back. They just want to do the status quo, conform, and complain. I don’t get chances but I’m not over it,” Waller said. Willing to do whatever it takes. This guy is willing to do whatever it takes. So I respect what he’s doing.”

“We’re both good at what we do, but we’re two very different people. I think the comparison is just people on Twitter who don’t have any intelligence or no creativity going.” Waller said.

Waller talked about what he strives to do every time he’s out in the ring or on TV during a previous interview with ComicBook.com, and his only goal is to steal the show. It doesn’t matter if he wins or loses, because if he has the most memorable moment, mission accomplished.

“Every time I go out, I go out to steal the show. Whether I win or lose, I want to make sure people are talking about me at the end of the night, I think Stand & Deliver, in front of this Dallas crowd, because before then I was only wrestling in front of the NXT crowd here.” Where we’re in front of every week. I’ve never been in front of a proper WWE crowd. But I’ve never wrestled. I’ve always been there saying trash to AJ, that sort of thing. So walking out there in front of that crowd at WrestleMania Weekend, as an Australian, I’ve even been There’s WrestleMania Weekend, that show was wild. And I was like, I don’t care what happens to my body. I’m going out there and stealing the show.”

“Ideally, I would put Carmelo Hayes up that ladder,” Waller said. So the end result wasn’t quite what I had planned for, but that picture was worth it. When you see me flying through the air, it’s something I will remember for the rest of my life. I know the people in that crowd. Same, they will never forget it.”
