Fans who watch Bellator 283 should pay attention to Dalton Rosta.
The Bellator 283 card may not seem very stacked to the uninitiated. The card features Bellator legend and icon Douglas Lima in the main event, as he rides the first of a three-way losing streak of his career. He’s facing Jason Jackson, who is hoping to reach Lima’s success at Bellator and can start that journey in earnest on Friday, July 22. This is the main event and may be the fight to watch but the fighter to watch is rookie prospect Dalton Rosta.
Rosta fought all six of his pro battles at Bellator and was undefeated in all six of them. A lot of the guys he’s fought against aren’t exactly among the best in the class, but that could change when he takes on the 26-year-old middleweight, Romero Cotton.
Cotton, to his credit, is also 6-0 in his young career. While Cotton isn’t as young as Rosta, he’s only 32 years old and hopes to be the next rising star in the Bellator middleweight division. As with Rosta, Cotton hasn’t faced anyone worth talking about, and these two would-be undefeated people will finally test themselves against each other, proving who might be the next face of the Bellator division.
The battle of Dalton Rosta and Romero Cotton is worth a master card slot in Bellator 283
The Bellator 283 card has been completely shaken over the past few weeks due to injury. So while it’s annoying that fans lost Patrick Pitbull against Sydney Outlaw for the lightweight Bellator title, that doesn’t mean the card is devoid of matches to get you excited about.
One of them is cotton vs rosta. The two unbeaten prospects could mark a new era of middleweight contenders. Given that both men were undefeated, both 6-0 at Bellator and both fought in the company only, this would be a perfect battle to build a story around it.
So putting it on the main card, with the idea of it representing the company’s future is just a smart reservation.
