Arnold Allen suspended Dan Hooker for the first TKO round.
It was an early war where Allen was able to outrun the exchanges. There was a moment when the fight looked like it might be over, but Allen went to the head scratch removal process and stopped working giving Hooker a chance to recover.
They returned to the center of the octagon and the attack began again, prompting the referee to intervene and stop the fight in the first round.
“I know you said I had to wrestle, but I know how strong I am,” Allen told Michael Bisping after his win.
Allen was looking to extend his massive winning streak and stay undefeated in the UFC by defeating a huge name in Hooker.
A fan favorite, Hooker was looking to recover from his loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 267.
Fans were so worried about Hooker’s performance that they thought he had a tough cut to 145 pounds.
It was the first event to take place outside of Fight Island since the pandemic began and took place nearly two years until the day UFC London 2020 was canceled.
