Speaking to SunSport, Candy said: “Despite being a sanctioned club, Romain makes the decision about where he goes.

“People may not like it, but his club is still – they were punished – but it is his club.”

He added: “All that matters to me is first and foremost, whoever ends up with the club has to put the fans front and center and the fan-led review must be adopted at its best principles and that Chelsea has a chance to be the gold standard for that.”
