The New York Mets will get Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer in the exact same game.
The New York Mets already had a Jacob deGrom-certified ace on the list, but this winter, the team decided to add one more to create a two-headed monster. Before the MLB shutdown, the Mets signed former band rival Max Scherzer to create a star-studded half-turn.
It’s unlikely that Degrom and Scherzer will feature in the same regular season game, but both will take the hill in their spring training game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, March 27.
The Mets for the first time with two heads erected the beast against the Cardinals
For Mets fans in the New York area looking to watch that game, it takes place at 1:10pm ET.
Scherzer was the best free agent starting player on the open market last winter. It so happened that the Mets won the lottery, for which they signed a three-year contract worth 130 million dollars. Scherzer exits the 2021 season with a 2.46 ERA and a best 0.864 WHIP in the league in 30 games split between the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Dodgers.
DeGrom showed when he was healthy that he is one of the best starting bowlers in the entire league. Last season, Degrom suffered a variety of injuries before he was suspended with an elbow injury. With 15 starts, deGrom posted 1.08 ERA, 0.554 WHIP and 146 strikes over 92.0 runs.
The Mets hope that having Degrom and Scherzer in their spins will lead to the World Championship berth. Fans can get a sneak peek at what the duo can do on Sunday.
