Chiefs can use Tyreek Hill cover space to sign star Cornerback

The Kansas City Chiefs surprised some fans as they traded Tyric Hill, but the cover space they opened could land them Stefon Gilmore.

Widely trading Tyreek Hill’s superstar receiver to the Dolphins, Chiefs GM Brett Veach was essentially asking fans to trust him.

Not only did Kansas City get a host of draft picks in commerce, but it made plenty of room for investment in other centers.

One such situation is the back corner, where the team needs help after allowing Charvarius Ward and Mike Hughes to walk away at free agency.

Chiefs can add Stefon Gilmore with Tyreek Hill cover space

According to Jordan Schultz, the space made available by the chiefs at Hill Trade could come in handy as the team seeks free agent Stefon Gilmore’s corner.

Gilmore was a professional bowler for the fifth time in six years last season despite only playing nine games due to injury.

The 31-year-old corner back has a track record of success, even if his recent injury history is a concern.

Spotrac lists Gilmore’s market capitalization $28 million over two years, averaging $14 million a year. Reports have indicated that he is looking for something over $15 million a year, so negotiations have yet to iron out some details.

However, it’s quite clear that the chiefs could afford to bring in Gilmore if they wanted to.

Schultz also reported that KC is interested in trading for Giants Cornerback James Bradberry, so there are options on the table. The team just needs to figure out which scenario best suits their needs.
