Kirby Smart wins Best Director

Georgia soccer coach Kirby Smart won a FanSided Sports Oscar for Best Director for “You’re Either Elite” or “You’re Not.”

Storyline: 41-year-old Georgia football coach Kirby Smart won a FanSided Sports Oscar for Best Director in the way he brought back “You’re either an elite or you’re not.”

The script contains everything a Hollywood executive would want in a potential blockbuster movie. A big college football brand that was funded by a rabid fan base. Stars galore from Stetson Bennett IV as “The Mailman” to Jordan Davis as “The Swedish Fish Connoisseur”. More than deserved discount at Nick Saban and Alabama Crimson Tide in this SEC hammer versus nail rivalry.

While some would argue that the script was written by himself, it required Dawg as Smart to make this game between the Hedges, Hunker Down in the face of adversity and let everyone know who was down that path in the final chapter: his mean machine in red and black.

Oscars Sports Double-Sided Fans: Kirby Smart Wins Best Director Whether You’re an Elite or Not

Elite or Not arose six years ago when Smart left Tuscaloosa Productions for a chance to return to the Athena Studios. He was there for a brief period in the early days of Mark Richt’s famous sitcom “A Commitment to J”. It ranked well in one of four market networks, but Tuscaloosa Productions’ rise under Saban canceled Richt’s show in 2016.

While previous smart Athena studio productions such as “Attack the Day” and “Keep Choppin” were met with mixed reviews, Red and Black Productions maintained the belief that his masterpiece would soon appear on them. The ability to sign one by one provided the speed needed for faster turnarounds. He learned a lot after he won the Best Director award in 2017.

Although many of Smart’s films look good on a poster, his critics are tired of the same poorly performing script, especially with his inability to finish the movie well. While the sugar tasted sweet and the rose scent was totally peachy, are you glad he finally found an oil in Indianapolis for the whole world to see? He drank a milkshake for his mentor Saban!

No doubt about it. The hype for this movie was barking outside the series. Although it went into production under the working title “If Not Now, When?” That quickly changed when the phrase “You’re either Elite or Not” moved from the tag line on the movie’s poster to the movie’s title. Sure, she had some bumpy moments in the first third of the movie, but she’s starting to pick up momentum on the track.

The plot took some time to develop, but Smart wisely used special effects in scenes depicting Vanderbilt, Arkansas, and Kentucky. The montage was great, pushing things into high gear in scenes with Florida, Missouri and Tennessee. He allowed his actors to develop their character arcs, so by the time they met Alabama in their first scene together, they were ready for action.

Or so we thought…

As captivating as the movie was in the first 12 scenes, Smart almost intentionally snagged his actors in the first scene with Alabama. People were particularly critical of this because they thought “You’re either the elite or you’re not” would turn out like any other smart movie at the Athena Studios. The team took it on the chin for a month before unleashing Agent Orange in Michigan.

As sweet as that scene was in Miami, especially with James “The Other Chef” of a cook playing so well in his hometown, everyone had a feeling the blood was going to be down in Indianapolis a week later.

While it looked like Daniel Plainview was going to drink Eli Sunday milk again, it was Smart who had the puff pin and not Saban this time. Despite his nomination for Best Actor, Bryce Young Understated, his supporting cast was no match for “The Swedish Fish Connoisseur” and “The Mechanic” played by Nakobe Dean and a promising youngster known as Kelee Ringo “Starr”.

With the help of “The Other Chef”, Zamir “Zeus” White and Oscar-nominated arrogant Brock “Big Wine Country” Bowers, “The Mailman” delivered in Smart’s best moments. The final act was so well-received that it greenlit another feature film starring Bennett in “33:18 to The Mailman.” Cook, Dean, Davis, and Wyatt may have left Athena Studios, but they have emerged as Hollywood’s number one hits.

Smart may never be able to outpace “either you’re the elite or you’re not,” but we’d love to see him try.
