Stephen A. Smith shoots at Will Smith after the Oscar slap.
No controversial moment could be complete without Stephen A. Smith has his nose (and his opinion) in them. On Sunday, March 27, a shocking moment occurred during the broadcast of the 2022 Academy Awards. It was so weird that fans weren’t sure it was real at first.
While introducing Chris Rock to the award for Best Documentary Feature, he joked about Jada Pinkett Smith who starred in “GI Jane 2” because of her shaved head. Pinkett Smith has been vocal about her struggles with vixen and raised by her husband Will Smith. The actor got off his seat and went up on the stage and hit Rock, then said “Keep my wife’s name out of your mouth the King,” all censored on American television.
It was later shared uncensored from international broadcasts.
Stephen A. Smith criticizes Will Smith, calling him “shameful” for the Oscar slap
Now, sports broadcaster Stephen A. Smith (no relation to Will or Jada) has crossed his mind for now.
He said on Twitter: “What Will Smith did tonight is straight bulls**”. “Props and congratulations to him on winning an Oscar because he deserved it. I love brother and I’m so proud of him. But boy was that a shameful act for him to commit tonight. To go up on stage and slap Chris Rock like that. He’s lucky he didn’t get kicked a**, Especially after the event. If not by Chris Rock’s friends he was there with them. I mean damn it. Denzel [Washington] And Bradley Cooper and Tyler Perry are going to have to calm you down, and the publicist is going to have to run out and calm you down. I mean, damn it, come on brother. come on man. There is no excuse for that ladies and gentlemen, don’t even try to justify it. Good? Chris Rock said it years ago. Every time blacks do something you know who screws it up. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever dream that I would say that about Will Smith.”
Rock declined to press charges.
