The World Basketball Federation has announced the date for the 2022 WNBA 26th Annual Draft. Here are the details of when and what to expect for this year’s draft.
This year’s WNBA Draft 2022 will take place on Monday, April 11 at 7 p.m. ET.
The 2022 draft will take place at Spring Studios, in New York City, for the first time in person since 2019. Spring Studios is located in the heart of the Tribeca neighborhood, known for its hosting New York Fashion Week and Tribeca Film Festival.
The draft is scheduled to take place eight days after the Women’s National Basketball Association game in Minneapolis. The prospects had until March 28 to announce their draft, unless their team advanced to Elite 8 or Final Four. In this case, they had more time.
Who Has First Choice in the WNBA Draft?
The Sophia Washington We currently have the #1 pick on the draft and with some potential talent out there. Nalissa Smith of Baylor, and Rhyne Howard of Kentucky, two prospects the Mystics could snatch in their first draft pick.
Indiana Fever and Atlanta Dream have the opportunity to pick up Smith or Howard, depending on the decision made by the Mystics. Shakira Austin, Mississippi center, is expected to rank third with the Atlanta Dream, but that could change based on the decisions the Mystics make.
Indiana, Atlanta, and New York each made the next five selections in the first round.
All three rounds will be available to watch on ESPN and WNBA regular season tips on May 6.
