Anderson, stepfather of New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson, explains to me that he “expects him to play” before Pelicans season ends.
As the NBA season draws to a close, the gossip regarding Zion’s return is less relevant than it was at the start of the season. The Bills, who once wrestled with the Houston Rockets for last place in the Western Conference, have the San Antonio Spurs in ninth, making their playing hopes come alive.
They did so without seeing Zion set foot on the field, but according to those at Camp Zion, there is still hope that Williamson can return to the hardwoods if the Pelicans extend their season. Zion’s stepfather, Lee Anderson, spoke on The Jordy Culotta Show about how he “expects” Zion to play this season.
“Do I expect him to play? That’s a tough question. Sure, I expect him to play. I certainly do. And if you ask Zion, I’m sure he’ll probably say the same thing after only two games.”
But, with the enormity of what is happening in the city of New Orleans and the chance of qualifying for the game play and possibly entering a seven-game series, that would be off the charts in the city of New Orleans.”
Anderson reiterated that he is not a medical professional and is not doing a medical evaluation, but Williamson believes there is still hope for an early return for 2022.

March started with promising news For Pels fans waiting for Zion’s return, the Pelicans announced on March 5 that Williamson had returned from rehab in Portland, Oregon and had been allowed to return to basketball activities.
A few weeks later on March 21, Charania released less exciting news: While Zion made the season’s first multi-game road trip, he was staying abroad “indefinitely.”
Anderson’s predictions may depend not so much on a return to the regular season as on the championship. The final days of the 2021-22 NBA season are April 9-10while the play cycle is scheduled in From 12 to 15 April.
If the dives are indicative of recovery and progress, Zion has shown they are on the cusp of a potential comeback – but a full return means the Pelicans need to extend their qualifying round for as long as possible.
