The first version of Sunday Night Baseball appeared, unsurprisingly, in the finale of the Boston Red Sox series against the New York Yankees. Not only was this the first ESPN broadcast on Sunday night, but it was also the first Kay Rod Cast appearance featuring Michael Kay and Alex Rodriguez.
David Ortiz was the first guest on Kay’s Roadcast, and Kay asked the impending Red Sox and Baseball Hall of Fame legend about his relationship with Rodriguez, his MLB partner on Fox.
