Patricio Freire predicts a whole new fight in AJ McKee’s rematch at Bellator 277.
Former Bellator featherweight champion Patricio Freire has a whole new bag of tricks prepared for his rematch with AJ McKee at Bellator 277.
Freire lost his title to Mackie at the Bellator World Featherweight Grand Prix Final at Bellator 263. Prior to that, he had won his previous seven fights, including when he claimed the featherweight title against Daniel Strauss at Bellator 178.
Freire seemed like an unstoppable force at both featherweight and lightweight which led to his first bout with McKee. But during his Bellator 277 pre-fight press conference, Freire explained why he’s treating this match as an entirely new opportunity.
“I’ve been in this game since 2004,” Freire said. “When I lost the belt, the first day I came back to Brazil, I started training again. I wasn’t training like crazy, I’m 34, but this strategy was thrown out the window. Now, I am training with this new strategy and I have trained to be smarter in my This fight.”

The experience is definitely on Freire’s side before the most anticipated battle in Bellator history. He has fought and defeated some of the top contenders at featherweight and lightweight, including Michael Chandler and Emmanuel Sanchez.
While McKee is considered the best fighter in the Bellator at the moment, Freire has a chance to claim the throne and show Bellator fans why he is absolutely great. He will be looking to reclaim the featherweight title against McKee at Bellator 277.
