Freddy Freeman faced the Atlanta Braves for the first time since joining the Los Angeles Dodgers, and it was an emotional journey for him.
While the Los Angeles Dodgers rejoiced in their 7-4 win over the Atlanta Braves, no player has looked as emotionally conflicted as Freddy Freeman, the Dodgers’ first-team captain. A former Braves mainlander who is largely credited with Atlanta’s first World Championship win since 1995, Freeman was on the Braves throughout his 12-year MLB career before signing with Los Angeles in March.
In an interview with Bally Sports South, Freeman spoke about the emotionality of playing against the Braves.
Freeman, who was in tears, thanked him for his time with the Braves and reflected on his fond memories with the team. He was hailed by former teammates as well as Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos, who greeted him by saying, “Hello, world champion,” according to Freeman.
