Atlanta Braves fans await the return of Ronald Acuna Jr., and the stadium star is creating nothing but excitement in his first rehab game for Triple-A.
Especially after starting the 2022 season 5-7 in defense of their World Championship title, the Atlanta Braves are eagerly anticipating the return of star defense star Ronald Acuna Jr. after the exciting young talent suffered a rip in the AFC Champions League in the middle of last year. And on Tuesday evening, Acuña took a huge step forward.
He began his first rehab with the Gwinnett Stripers in a Triple A ball, and is the first Acuña player since an injury led to an exit to the middle. He grabbed a little more ball when he got onto the board for the second time in the night.
Comfy as ever in the penalty area, Acuña tattooed a ball in midfield on his second appearance for the board and was just inches away from getting home. Perhaps better for Braves fans, though, they were able to see him easily progress to a double and a knee injury seemed to hardly affect him.

Although Matt Olson got off to a hot start with his Freddy Freeman boots and position, the Braves as a whole got off to a less than stellar start to the 2022 campaign.
In particular, promotion was an issue for Atlanta as the spin and bull’s back end was a problem. While Acuña’s return isn’t going to help with any of that, the fact of the matter is that it’s a lot easier to win baseball games when offense is able to put big numbers on the scoreboard.
With the way Olson, Ozzy Albes and many others are starting the year, Acuña’s comeback – especially if it already looks like that – could bring the Braves back into the competition.
