Jordan Hicks, the St. Louis Cardinals, made his debut early Thursday night, throwing some poor pitches against the Marlins.
While St. Louis lost to the Marlins on Thursday night, some good things came from Hicks’ first start with the club, and that’s the 25-year-old. Whether the Cardinals choose to use Hicks in a long-running role or a long-range starter, it’s an elite weapon with a quickie and break things to boot.
Early in his career, Hicks clocked over 105 MPH on the radar gun. Now, he’s added to his repertoire on the show. On Thursday, Hicks went three rounds, giving up one round while hitting three hitters. The main area of improvement for him personally would be the two careers he gave up.

“I liked him very much, and the only thing I did not like was walking,” Hicks said. “My things are too good to be with her for people’s walk. I just have to shut up and avoid walking.”
Hicks knows his stuff, and he’s an elite. A couple pitches from the start of Thursday night show exactly that.

Hicks has some of the best stuff in the big leagues. If he can spot his control issues at any point this season, the Cardinals will suddenly have one of the most dangerous weapons in baseball.
