The Brooklyn Nets won’t have Ben Simmons in their lineup in Game 4, which means the prospect of playing the injured star this season is pretty much to the toast.
If the Nets plotted on Ben Simmons to rescue them, that plan was essentially thrown out the window.
Simmons hasn’t played for Brooklyn since his trade from the 76ers. While his regular season was voided, there was hope that he could be back in time for the playoffs.
On Sunday, a new update to his in-game 4 status made him extremely unlikely to play all this season.

Simmons’ situation has been closely monitored and there will be certain disappointment still It has not been scanned for full activity. Back injuries are known to be difficult. It was an ordeal.
Missing Game 4 does not guarantee that Simmons will not be able to play for nets in a hypothetical game 5, 6, or 7. However, Brooklyn will need to win Game 4 to get to Game 5.
