The Yankees haven’t spent a lot of money in their off-season MLB free agency, but that just means they can handle these five players on a season.

Many Yankees fans were unhappy with Brian Cashman’s decision not to spend big on free agency this off season. The upside to this idle is that New York is now well positioned to make a big move through the season trade if the right player is available.

Of course, the Yankees will have to give up talent if they want to add an influential player before the MLB Trade deadline closes. There is plenty of time for Cashman and the team’s front office to consider who’s the consumable, but it looks like several players are already available if the opposing team is willing to make a proper bid.

Yankees fans should keep reading to discover five players who could easily be swapped out for another uniformed striped stripe in the coming weeks.

5. Ben Rortvedt

In some ways, it’s not fair that Rortvedt has been on this list ever since tilt injury He’s been kept on the infected list since he arrived in foreign trade with the twins. On the other hand, the team’s quick move to get Jose Trevino in ahead of opening day puts Roertvedt’s place in the 40-man roster in jeopardy.

What the organization decides with Rortvedt when he’s healthy should be big news for his front office situation. If he goes straight back to the Major League roster, they’re clearly looking at him as Kyle Higashioka’s platoon partner. If they try to hide it in Triple-A, this is a clear indication that it is available via commerce.
