Mayer joined Fox Sports after stepping down as head coach of the Ohio State Bucks at the end of the 2018 season. He was part of the network Big Nun launch turns out.

Despite his controversial tenure as head coach of Jaguar, sources told Fox Deitch that the network “doesn’t see Mayer’s failure at the NFL level as an impediment to his return to Fox”. That, knowing they will be “shamed on social media” as a result of Meyer’s reinstatement.

Meyer hinted during an appearance on “Tim May Podcast” back in April that he wants to return to Fox.

The Jaguars had been hoping Mayer would be able to upend the franchise, especially with quarterback Trevor Lawrence for the foreseeable future. Instead, it was contentious after arguing with Mayer, such as not going on the team’s trip back to Jacksonville after Thursday’s football game for being accused of kicking kicker Josh Lambeau. After achieving a 2-11 record, the Jaguars were able to stop Meyer’s trial.

It’s not official yet, but all signs point to Mayer returning to Fox Sports to work on college football studio shows.
