Umpire Dan Bellino issued an apology days after firing Arizona Diamondbacks player Madison Baumgarner.
Earlier in the week, there was a lot of eye on the Arizona Diamondbacks-Miami Marlins game on May 4. After the first half, Diamondbacks Madison Bumgarner’s pitcher was checked for a sticky substance by referee Dan Bellino, who proceeded to stare at it while doing so. This led to Bumgarner saying something to Bellino, who promptly kicked him out of the game after one round.
After all the talk about the accident, Bellino Released a statement via ESPN’s Jesse RogersWhere he apologized for his actions.
“I would like to talk about my actions on May 4 which includes Madison Baumgarner,” Bellino said in the statement, via ESPN, “When I started my MLB career nearly 15 years ago, I received some good advice. I was told to judge every game as If only my kids were sitting in the front row. I failed to live up to those expectations this week. While I can’t go back and change what happened, I take full responsibility. I will learn from this incident, and I sincerely apologize.”

Sources told Rogers that Bellino was disciplined about his actions. Though disciplined, Bellino is part of the crew responsible for the weekend series between the Detroit Tigers and the Houston Astros.
During a routine adhesive check, Bellino checked Baumgarner’s hands but was in eye contact with the jug the entire time. That was when the bowler made a comment that Bellino didn’t like him and kicked him out of the match. Bumgarner had to be restrained by several members of his team.
after the game, Bellino said to the pool reporter He fired Baumgarner for using profanity towards a referee.
Bumgarner faces no discipline for this incident.
