MLB Power Rankings

After a full week of May for baseball, there are some major changes to the MLB Power rankings.

More than a month of baseball has been played, which means the MLB Power rankings are tight. Apparently some clubs are waving the white flag early on. Meanwhile, others are delaying any scheduling of family vacations in October just in case they have work.

Last week’s MLB Power rankings didn’t include many major transformations. Teams that were playing well from previous work continued to do a lot of the same.

The topic does not continue this week. Some seismic changes occurred. Few of the early fighters now play baseball well. Others, who have been exceeding expectations, are now facing the realization that this will not be their year.

30) MLB Power Rankings: Cincinnati Reds

It doesn’t matter how many teams are in the league. The Cincinnati Reds will be last until they can accumulate a winning streak or someone else will stop winning altogether. Is it possible to rank them behind some of the Triple-A clubs? They feel comfortable in this place. After another week of baseball, they’re still the worst team in the game.

The fact that Brandon Drury could win the club’s Triple Crown title tells us enough about the state of things. In the absence of Joey Foto, Jonathan India and Nick Seen in the squad, the team is doing everything they can to collect the wins. The staff is in complete disarray and on the verge of putting together one of those historically bad years. This is the 2022 Reds baseball.

29) MLB Power Rankings: Kansas City Royals

It looks like another lost season for the Kansas City Royals. They weren’t expected to do much in 2022. After a tight few weeks of baseball with MLB left wide open to our surprise, instead, they fell back and were late.

Andrew Benintende is the only regular player to have anything close to a good year. Meanwhile, Bobby Waite’s excitement was put on hold as he showed how green he was. There are some bright spots for the team. Unfortunately, the focus for them will be on developing the youth and what they can get on the trade deadline for veterans.

28) MLB Power Rankings: Detroit Tigers

There is only a slight difference between the Detroit Tigers and the team they are leading in this week’s MLB Power Rankings. Detroit was supposed to be better than this. It wasn’t the royal family either.

The show was decent for Detroit. They can easily turn things around and get closer to the .500 season they had planned. It was the bats that were preventing them from advancing. The 78 points scored were tied to the Royals for the lowest in Major League Baseball. Someone, please shake Javier Baez and friends awake.

27) MLB Power Rankings: Washington Nationals

Even though they play in the only National Division without multiple teams above .500, the Washington Nationals still find ways to lose frequently. Things should get a lot worse where they are now. This is only the first full season of rebuilding that hasn’t completed “Sell Mode” for the entire operation.

The Citizens have been a strangely good offensive team. They have the second highest number of rounds ever recorded in their league. They have also conceded more kicks than any team in the National League other than the Reds. This is a trial season for them as they try to get through another unproductive and expensive year of Patrick Corbin. At least maybe they can finally trade Josh Bell for something.

26) MLB Power Rankings: Chicago Cubs

Thankfully the Chicago Cubs have the Reds to point at and laugh at. Otherwise, they will be a laughingstock of the Central National League. The team is falling rapidly in the MLB Power rankings. Their half-hearted attempt to build a rival this season is already showing cracks in the foundation.

The Cubs may have squandered one of the best pit bulls in baseball. They have six guys with over 9 slashes and 3.00 or less. Positive role in this: Everyone will need relief jugs on the trade deadline. This is good news for the Cubs Farm system, which should have a number of good possibilities this summer. Other than that, it’s a long year at Wrigley Field.
