Suns guard Chris Paul angrily tweeted that Mavericks fans got their hands on his mother and stepmother, and called on the NBA to do nothing about it.
Mother’s Day is meant to be a celebration. For Chris Paul and his family who attended the Suns playoff game against the Mavericks on Sunday, it wasn’t the case.
After the Phoenix fell at 111-101, Paul took to Twitter to reveal that Mavericks fans abused his mother and wife during the match.
“I want good players to say things to the fans but the fans can get their hands on our families…. Paul tweeted.
Mavericks fans allegedly got their hands on Chris Paul’s mother and wife
ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that “Paul’s mother got her hands on her by Dallas fans and Paul’s wife was pushed too.
Paul’s children were present and witnessed the whole thing, feeling “insecure” during the exchange.
During the match, the camera caught Paul looking hot. Speaking to the apparently law enforcement officer, the guard appeared to say, “He put his hands on my mom, he put his hands on my mom.”
The Mavericks released a statement acknowledging the incident and dismissing the fan in question.
“The Dallas Mavericks are aware of an incident between a fan and Chris Paul’s family. It was unacceptable behavior and would not be tolerated. The Mavericks, along with American Airlines Center, quickly removed the fan from today’s game,” The statement said.
Dallas may take further action against the fan but that must be determined at a later date. Currently, it is unfortunate that the NBA Playoff was marred by unacceptable fan behavior. Whether a fan is interacting with another fan or the player’s mother, there is no room for physical altercations in a sporting event.
