Hernandez It is the best argument we have about electronic strike zone, or robot rulers as some might call them. While the referees association continues to defend him, Hernandez has proven time and time again that he is not a referee of MLB caliber.
It is not difficult to find out.
In Sunday’s game between the Astros and the Nationals, Hernandez immediately made his mark on the match. With Houston ready to strike, Angel confused us all.

Unlike Joe West, who took off as the sun set and started the podcast, Hernandez hasn’t shown any signs of retiring yet. Instead, he seems content to be the bane of having every fanbase, and perhaps the biggest argument yet for some sort of electronic strike zone interception.
“Robot umps” is constantly an exaggeration, and it probably wouldn’t even be a talking point if rulers like Hernandez weren’t forced behind the board in a rotation of some sort. Hernandez may be a good arbiter in other respects. Is his leadership appreciated as crew chief? certainly! Will he make a good judgment first or third? I don’t know, but maybe!
The main board is not where Hernandez belongs, period.
