Delonte West is back on the court and available in the large 3 . pool

After falling off the NBA rosters for more than a decade, 38-year-old Delonte West is back on the court as part of The Big3 Project.

The G League gives those on the cusp of the NBA the opportunity to play for a chance in the league, which can sometimes give players the chance they need: Gary Payton II is a prime example of how wonderfully well developed G League players can be.

But there are also veteran players who are no longer sought after by league and are not left in the G League. For players approaching their forties, there is another way to play the game: in The Big3 League.

The 3×3 basketball league, founded by Ice Cube in 2017, consists of 12 teams and often recruits former NBA players to fill their ranks. At a summer-style music festival, The Big3 announced draft pool, reports Amy Trask.

One of the names on that list is none other than Delonte West, a longtime NBA guard who played for four NBA teams, most notably with the Boston Celtics.

Former NBA goalkeeper Delonte West joins The Big3 group

West last played in the NBA a decade ago, when he played for the Dallas Mavericks for the 2011-12 season. The 38-year-old goalkeeper also spent time in the Chinese Basketball Association and in the G League, spending two spells with the Texas Legends. West last played professional basketball of any kind in 2015, so returning to the court is a nice development.

Throughout his life, West has dealt with many difficulties, including economic instability, substance abuse, and mental health issues, during and after his NBA career. For this reason, many have expressed their happiness to see West return to court with The Big3.

Those who care about West and his well-being see enlistment as an opportunity to embrace his basketball skills once again, especially since West appears to be still struggling financially. According to a Twitter user, West was seen outside 7-11 asking for the change several days ago.

Just as the NBA Draft makes dreams come alive, the same is true of The Big3 where 3×3 is growing in popularity.
