Chicago White Sox player Joe Kelly dumped Aaron Hicks in Sunday’s game, luring him after an appearance on sports radio.
It’s been a tough season for Hicks, whose Yankees fans would prefer to get rid of the roster, either at Triple-A or a completely free agency. On Sunday afternoon, Hicks was caught dancing outside second base, and Kelly made him pay.
Sure, Kelly is a relief pitcher, but at some level in his development he learned how to go down the hill and throw to second base. Hicks was halfway to third base before Kelly noticed, and quickly threw the ball back into the court.
White Sox: Joe Kelly trolling Aaron Hicks on Sports Radio
Kelly is one of the best trash talkers in professional baseball, because he’s not afraid to make comments that others won’t – watch the Houston Astros.
The 33-year-old went to Chicago Sports Radio in the wake of the White Sox’s win over the Yankees. When his flight came from Hicks, Kelly was quite rough.
“Then I turned and threw, and hit him a mile,” Kelly said. “I could see Aaron’s frustrated face. So I was like ‘This kid, Aaron.’ What are you doing? I said way to go, you’re such a stud, that’s a baby. And I just let her tear up because she was the dumbest–ever, you know what I mean? Just play your game, don’t stress. “
Yankees fans have the same question, Joe. What the heck was he thinking?
