Boston Celtics star Jason Tatum has shared the text message he sent to Kobe Bryant before Game Seven.
Jason Tatum was thinking about Kobe Bryant before the Celtics’ game seven on Sunday night.
The Boston Celtics managed to hold off the Miami Heat to advance to the NBA Finals. Although there was no love lost between the Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers, Tatum loved Bryant while growing up. He had some sort of mentorship with Bryant before his untimely death more than two years ago. Tatum carries on Bryant’s legacy by applying his own version of the mamba mentality.

Is it a bit cliched to share a screenshot of a text message you sent to someone who is no longer with us? Yes, but we won’t fully understand the relationship, or the impact of this, as Bryant did on Tatum. The Celtics star may have grown up at a time when LeBron James was basketball’s best player, but Bryant will forever be the favorite NBA star of a generation.
Tatum was able to take home the newly created Larry Bird Award His 26-point performance in Game 7 On the road in Miami. While a lot will be made about Jimmy Butler’s attempt at a 3 pointer with plenty of time on the clock down, it’s the Tatum and Celtics who are on the move. Tatum may be the best player on his team, but the Golden State Warriors are a big problem.
Although Boston might match up well with the Golden State on paper, the Warriors have so much experience in the NBA Finals on their side, it’s unbelievable. This is the Celtics’ first trip to the Finals in 12 years. They haven’t won the NBA Finals in 14 years. In terms of Golden State, the Warriors are looking for their fourth league title in six finals throughout the entire Steve Kerr era.
Tatum might end up texting Bryant again at some point during the biggest streak of his life.
