The St. Louis Cardinals are a trade or two away from setting their spin at first, and it should all start with Jose Quintana.
The Pirates, despite some signs of life this early season, are still several years away from the feud (if you can call it that). Ben Cherington has rebuilt the Pittsburgh ranch system into one of the best in baseball, and he’ll be looking to add to said system at this year’s deadline with some clever moves.
Quintana trading – an asset that Pittsburgh has definitely signed on hoping to relocate in August – is a must.
While in-division deals are uncommon, the Bucs have no qualms about St. Louis this season. Quintana is not on a long-term contract. This will no longer hurt Pittsburgh.

Quintana could be at least part of the answer.

Quintana, despite its age of 2.15, will not be too expensive. If his numbers stay the same, he will probably be more valuable by August, which could tempt pirates to stick with him for the time being.

Hence, he is not in the top 10 potential players list, but he was ranked out of the 11th by MLB Pipeline, and he is only 19 years old. In a few years, it could be near the top of the Bucs system with the right development. for every MLB . pipelineHere’s what to expect here:

So here’s the real prize, and assuming Quintana still progresses to sub-stage 3 ERA, he’ll be all set for a Pirates system that can use the upside.
