Former New York Yankees player Clint Frazier is happy to be discharged from the Bronx. Now with the Cubs, he has a new lease on life in baseball.
Fraser will get a chance to take on his former team over the weekend, starting Friday night in the Bronx. Given these timely comments, it was unlikely that he would receive a warm welcome back.
Bearded Fraser was now asked about his time with the Yankees Chicago Sun-Times Maddy Lee. To his credit, Fraser opened up…maybe too much.
“I love it here,” Frazier said of the Cubs. “Definitely don’t miss a few things there. And I really enjoy the way this club is going. It seems like there are a lot of guys here who accept everyone. It has been really good for me.”
Cubs: Clint Fraser never misses time with the Yankees
Frazier does not feel as though he was accepted during his time in New York. He also felt like a distraction, in his following comment to Lee:
“And you had to be a cookie cutter to be on this team,” he said. “If it’s not like you’re, say, a really bad distraction, it seemed like that. So I don’t miss being told how I had to look for the past five years.”
It should be noted that Frazier talks about the Yankees’ facial hair policy in his last comment. Of course, the red-headed killer how has his own beard with cubs.
Being a Yankee is simply not in the cards for some. It carries enormous weight and responsibility due to the intense media coverage in New York. For Frasier, it became unhealthy. He is not alone.
