With the 2022 NBA Finals in the books after sponsoring the Golden State Warriors business team versus the Boston Celtics in six games, the basketball world is now turning its attention to the 2022 NBA draft.
The draft order was set with the lottery postponed a few weeks ago. The Orlando Magic would be the #1 overall pick, followed by the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons to finish in the top five. As is the case every year, the 2022 NBA Draft will feature two rounds of selections. Typically, each round consists of 30 picks, basically one per team, in theory. However, two franchises are giving up their second-round picks for absurdity: the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat. Thus, there will be only 58 picks in this year’s draft. There are no compensating options.
While there’s no real advantage that should be his first pick in this year’s draft, there should be several All-Star caliber players coming off the board in the lottery segment. Oklahoma City has four picks in this draft, including three in the first round. This could be a draft as the Rebuild Thunder sets themselves up to be a juggernaut in the following seasons.
