Will Zalatoris was very close to forcing a playoff at the 2022 US Open. Instead, Matt Fitzpatrick won his first major championship.
It wasn’t the case for Will Xalatores again. Zalatoris was runner-up to Justin Thomas in this year’s PGA Championship. Unfortunately, he will have to wait until next month at the Open Championship for another chance to win a major tournament. Zalatoris fell short at the US Open.
Zalatoris was in position to force an 18th place playoff with England’s Matt Fitzpatrick leading a one-handed header to the last hole. The 25-year-old hit his approach right onto the playing surface 14 feet from the cup, but his shot to force the playoff was just a touch off the line.

Will Zalatores have a fight again after an expensive bogey in 15 par-4 saw him pull out of the tie for the lead At the 2022 US Open. Zalatores trailed Matt Fitzpatrick by two shots when both came close to tee number 16.

Approaching the green from about 130 yards left Zalatores inside the leader. Two shots from Matt Fitzpatrick gave the Englishman a one-hit advantage, but Zalatores still had one last shot.
Will Zlatoris lost his next shot, stood over his ball, and rode it to the hole. Zalatoris’ shot passed close to the left side of the cup, and the Wake Forest University alum bowed and dropped his racket behind his back as he watched for the chance to win his first big slide after the hole.
This was Zalatoris’ second runner-up in a major this season and the third time in his career. Zalatoris also came in short for The Masters in 2020, a tournament won by Hideki Matsuyama.
