The former brave bowler attacks fans who plan to harass Freddy Freeman

Will Braves fans enjoy Freddy Freeman when he returns to Atlanta? Alex Wood, a former ATL player, thinks the idea is crazy.

For the first time since signing with the Dodgers, Freddie Freeman will return to Trust Park to face his former team this weekend.

Given the way the Braves legend broke up with Atlanta, some wondered what kind of reception he would get.

At least one former Atlanta player thinks anything short of a warm welcome is unthinkable.

Alex Wood explodes at the idea of Braves fans booing Freddy Freeman

Alex Wood tweeted in response to a Twitter poll asking if Freeman would boo: “The fact that this is a question is literally the dumbest thing I’ve heard in my entire life.” “One of the best companies in franchise history, a pillar of the Atlanta community and a potential HOF future. Real Braves fans should laugh at this.”

Fans seem to agree with Wood on this. With 4,700 votes cast in the poll, only 25 percent thought Freeman would be booed. Most do not expect this to happen.

Wood began his career with the Braves, performing in Atlanta from 2013 to 2015 when he was traded to the Dodgers.

Freeman is now in LA by himself with the Dodgers family and his brave legacy isn’t really in question. He helped the franchise win the world championship in 2021 to spend 12 years of loyal service.

Some fans may not like the way Freeman negotiated a new contract with the franchise. Others blame management for not doing everything necessary to keep Freeman in place. It doesn’t really matter which side you fall on. Even those who think the player has asked for too much should acknowledge his tremendous contributions to the organization and give him a welcome.

The Braves and the Dodgers will meet in a three-game series starting on Friday, June 24. The Dodgers won the previous series in Los Angeles 2-1 with Freeman winning twice at home.
