These five teams should be getting more involved in the Frankie Montas rumors after the Oakland Athletics player nearly threw the no-batting on Thursday.
Frankie Montas rumors would start to rise after he was close to being hit. He gave the Oakland Athletics eight rounds off. The bigger story was how he was holding a no-hitter until there were two limbs on the eighth.
However, Team A somehow managed to lose the game 2-1 after a runaway ninth inning as the Seattle Mariners didn’t have a single hit. Montas’ performance should still have teams looking to strike a deal for him as soon as possible.
These five clubs in need of bowlers should fully engage in any Frankie Montas rumors as they hope to have one of the best starting bowlers available this summer.
1) Frankie Montas Rumors: Meet Chris Bassett on the New York Mets
The New York Mets were involved in a lot of unofficial Frankie Montas rumors, but eventually settled on his former teammate, Chris Bassett. The Flushing reunion certainly could work in his favour.
The Mets are expected to be one of the most aggressive teams this summer. The starting bowler is needed because of the number of injuries they still suffer. They’ve been without Jacob Degrom all season and won’t be returning Max Scherzer until this weekend. There are also questions about Carlos Carrasco’s health. In the middle of his first start in IL, Tylor Megill left the field early.
It’s very simple. The Mets have exhausted the depth of their starting pitcher to the point where they will need to make a deal for someone. This isn’t a season just about ending the playoff drought. This is the year the Mets need to capitalize on everything that has gone well for them in the standings, while a lot of others have not.
Montas would be a great fit for the Mets. His presence can also allow them to transport one of their weaker starters to the playing field where he can hang out for depth and also give them several turns to make up for the lackluster richness.
