The 2022 PFL postseason image will continue to form with PFL 5, which takes place June 24 from the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. This week, it’s time to determine the heavyweight and featherweight playoffs — plus one match to set the lightweight scene.
The PFL 5 main event will feature PFL Heavyweight Champion defender Bruno Cappelozza and Matheus Scheffel in action.
Cappelozza already started his recurring right-footed stint in PFL 2 in April, scoring Stewart Austin in the first round.
The Jungle Fight and RIZIN veteran’s path to PFL gold last season saw him score in the first round of Ante Delija and Mo DeReese before defeating Jamelle Jones and Delija in the post-season.
This is Chevelle’s first season in the NFL, and he will need a win to stand a chance in the post-season, thanks to a loss to Delia in the NFL 2. Shevelle competed in the Dana White Series competition last year, losing to Azamat Morzakanov.
The PFL 5 co-main event will see Anthony Pettis partner Stevie Ray to finish the lightweight regular season. Any kind of win or tie would snatch the #1 seed Pettis in the light playoff, while Ray needs a win across the end to enter the playoffs and eliminate Raush Manfio.
The evening’s featured featherweight bout will see Chris Wade, last season’s runner-up, face off with Kyle Bochniak.
