The Angels and Mariners got into an all-wheel-drive brawl conclusively on Sunday with Jesse Winker HBP serving as their breaking point.
It may not have been too hot in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, but the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels were clearly scorching as they faced off to end the streak between the clubs of the West.
At the top of the second half, Los Angeles player Andrew Wantz threw in and Seattle player Jesse Winker dug in. That’s when the chaos broke out completely.
Winker clearly took more than one exception off the court and the result was that he and third Angels Anthony Rendon were swinging on each other. Punches were also thrown by Mariners player JB Crawford and others on both teams when the seats were cleared and it took a few minutes to clear the wild scene.
Angels and sailors squabble while their seats are empty in Los Angeles
As mentioned, Sunday’s chaos was prevented by two main events, one from the exact same game and one from Saturday Night’s Contest. He threw Wantz near Julio Rodriguez’s head in the first half on Sunday, which put Winker and the Mariners on the alert. However, the indoor pitches of the Angels could have been retaliatory for vomiting and indoors on Mike Trout on Saturday.
Regardless, it was a crazy moment in Sunday’s MLB action, a moment punctuated by what happened after both teams refilled the seats as Winker told Los Angeles and their fans what he was thinking of them through a pair of hand gestures.
We expect to hear more about this scene from the league’s offices in the coming days.
