On the June 22 episode of AEW Dynamite, Danielson approached the ring to inform fans that he was initially scheduled to face Zack Saber Jr. at the Forbidden Role, but he is no longer able to, as he is not allowed to compete. However, he announced that he would choose his replacement not only to face Saber on a pay-per-view, but also to join the Blackpool Combat Club and compete in a Blood and Guts match against the Jericho Appreciation Society on the June 29 episode of Dynamite.

Another name associated with the Forbidden Door event is Johnny Gargano, who has been linked to every mysterious opponent AEW has been teasing since his WWE contract expired in December.
Garagno posted on his Twitter account earlier in the week that he would be in Chicago on Sunday, June 26, for The Chicago Card Show. This is the same day Forbidden Door is being held at the United Center in Chicago. Gargano addressed this in response, saying the appearance was booked months in advance, but knew that “5 percent” of fans “would believe it.” [he’s] Tell the truth “.
Company boss Tony Kahn discussed pulling Danielson off the card, but doubled down on the mystery wrestler who will face Saber during a media call on June 24.
