Recent Chicago Cubs rumors hint that Kyle Hendricks could be traded and these three teams should be in the market to add him.

Many summertime rumors about the Chicago Cubs focused on soon-to-be free agents, Wilson Contreras and David Robertson. They are natural spells to be traded. So does Ian Hub, whose positional flexibility makes him a match for nearly every team.

What about the primary bowler that teams have been trying to banish for years, Kyle Hendricks?

The New York Post’s John Heyman expects a lot of Cubs rumors about Hendrix on the trade block. Despite holding the record 3-6 and 4.90 APR to 14 start this year and an approximate year into 2021, Heyman expects teams to look at his past track record. Hendricks has been a huge part of Cubs’ success since his debut in 2014. While sometimes overlooked, he might be a good asset for any of these three teams to chase down on the trade deadline.

1) Cubs Rumors: Kyle Hendrix may be the trusted arm the Mets have lost

The New York Mets are all in this season except when it comes to exhausting their entire farm system. The current regime has been eager to hold on to prospects like Francisco Alvarez and Brett Batty. We shouldn’t expect them to have the need to trade either to get Hendricks whose best days may be behind him.

Hendricks will be a promotion over Carlos Carrasco, whose recent struggles have made fans doubt his sustainability over the course of an entire season. Chris Bassett hasn’t been particularly sharp lately either. Then there is the full injury concern with Jacob Degrom and Max Scherzer.

The Mets and Cubs made a deal last summer when Pete Crow-Armstrong was hired to Chicago in exchange for Javier Baez and Trevor Williams. Could someone like Ronnie Mauricio handle the Cubs this time around for Hendrix and maybe another piece? It may reflect what the two clubs agreed last season with giving the Mets another option to rotate this season and the Cubs’ piece to build with in the future.
