Are national parks open on July 4th?
There’s nothing better than a holiday that falls on a Friday or Monday, so we can all enjoy a four-day weekend. That’s what happened this year when the Fourth of July came on Monday.
So the perfect idea for this national holiday is to spend it in one of the many national parks in the United States.
According to the National Parks, “Americans celebrate the Fourth of July as the official Christmas Day of the United States of America, commemorating the vote for independence by the Continental Congress on July 2, 1776. This was followed by wider public announcements two days later. Throughout the week beginning on the 4th of July, families and friends gather for food, fireworks, and fun while also thinking about the freedom and liberty of all Americans.”
But… are they even open?

All national parks will open on the Fourth of July, and many will have special events, programs, and some fireworks. But many parks have changed opening hours, so double-check your local park for the exact details.
Certain areas at some parks will be closed, so check that out as well.
And since it’s going to be a busy holiday, be prepared to arrive early and conserve traffic by using shared cars when possible.
