Look for any Georgia football stars to bring home equipment during award season.

Last year, two Georgia players won top prizes: defensive tackle Jordan Davis (Pednarik and Outland) and full back Nakobi Dean (Potkos).

The Philadelphia Eagles’ new teammates have been focal points of Dogs’ impressive defense throughout. Although Georgia usually has one or two players capable of winning a major prize, the best candidates to do so this fall are those on the other side of football. Don’t look now, but Georgia could have a sneaky attack this season, while redefining quite a bit.

If any Georgia player has a great opportunity to bring home appliances, watch out for these guys.

Could Galen Carter be a unanimous American, maybe he could win Bednarik?

In theory, Galen Carter should be higher in this than a third but hear me out, Doug. If there is any player on the 2022 roster capable of unanimously an all-American like Davis and Dean was the season of the year, it should be Carter. He’s the most talented player to come back to this team. If any player from Georgia were to climb into the top five as Travon Walker did last spring, it would be Carter, too.

However, Carter plays in the same relative position group as the other elite defensive playmaker on the SEC team at Will Anderson of Alabama’s Crimson Tide. While he plays more on the edge, as opposed to Carter in the trenches, this will be important when awards season comes around to some extent. Yes, Carter could win Blumbardi or Outland, but all eyes are on the Bednarek award.

Let’s be real. Odds are that these two will be the first non-quarterback players taken into the 2023 NFL Draft. One of them may go play for the nearby Atlanta Falcons, as far as we know. However, Carter will have to do more of a position with less reliance on stats, compared to the stage on which Anderson is playing to outsmart him at majors like Bednarik. Carter might win some awards, but which ones?

The only man who can stop Carter from cleaning up during awards season is Anderson.
