Best Free Proxy Refuse Flyers & More for Surprising Destination

Having been associated with teams like the Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils, winger Johnny Goudreau has signed a multi-year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Before the start of the NHL’s free agency period, winger Johnny Goudreau reported to the Calgary Flames, the team that drafted him in the fourth round of the 2011 draft. However, the New Jersey native has been linked with signings with the Devils, Philadelphia Flyers, or New Yorkers.

Instead of heading northeast, Gaudreau heads to Ohio. according to Sportscent Elliot Friedman, Goudreau signs with Columbus Blue Jackets.

Johnny Goudreau Contract Details With Blue Jackets

Friedman reports that the deal is for seven years, with a contract value of $68.6 million, with an annual salary of $9.8 million.

As for how much Gaudreau left on the table with Flames, TSN’s Pierre LeBrun notes that their final offer was an eight-year deal worth $88.5 million.

Demon lovers, pilots, and islanders must have had strokes and blows of air after being so attached to Gaudreau, none of them had Gaudreau on their payroll. Flyers were in Gaudreau until hours after the start of the free agency period. That left demons and islanders like the two teams known in his services.

But, there were reports that the Blue Jackets had entered the lottery, and now they stand with the former Flames Wing on their list.

Gaudreau would have been a sought-after target on the open market, given his scoring abilities and unrealistic pace. It certainly helped that he spent a year with the Flames, putting up 115 points by scoring 40 goals and providing 75 assists. This is all he did in one season of his entire career.

Overall, Gaudreau scored 210 goals and scored 399 assists with a total of 609 points during his nine years with Calgary (602 games).

There were some massive spots at the opening of the free agency, like the Carolina Hurricanes that landed Brent Burns and Claude Giroud signing with Senators in Ottawa. But just when calm prevailed, the Blue Jackets caught Gaudreau apart from their Metropolitan Division rivals.
