Russell Westbrook, Agent Divided Amid Lake Guard’s Unknown Future

Los Angeles Lakers Russell Westbrook and former agent Thad Faucher have been guarding their separate path after working closely together over the last 14 seasons of the NBA.

It ended up between Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook and his former agent, Thad Faucher.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski Friday night news reported that Foucher is no longer representing Westbrook due to “irreconcilable differences”. It is suggested that “there is no longer complete agreement with Westbrook on whether the former MVP should stay with the Lakers for the final season of his $47 million contract.” Foucher believes that staying in place is Westbrook’s best option.

Westbrook has been represented by Foucher since he was drafted No. 4 overall in the 2008 NBA Draft by the soon-to-be Oklahoma City Thunder.

If Westbrook is traded this summer, it would be the fourth time in four years he’s been transferred since signing his contract with Thunder. He has played for the Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, and now the Lakers since leaving the NBA franchise with which he is closely associated. At 33 years old, another trade could be a disaster for his career.

Per Foucher’s statement, obtained by Wojnarowski, believes the deal is terrible for his former client.

“I think this kind of transaction only serves to devalue Russell and his best option is to stay with the Lakers, and publicly embrace the starting role and support that Darvin Hamm provided. Russell is the first inductee in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and he will prove that again before he retires” .

Foucher ended his statement citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the sudden split.

“Unfortunately there are irreconcilable disagreements about the best way forward and we are no longer working together. I wish Russell and his family all the best.”

Westbrook is his first Hall of Famer vote, but he didn’t age gracefully in his early thirties.

Russell Westbrook, former longtime client Thad Foucher has split after 14 years

Westbrook doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone. He is a nine-time All-NBA player and former MVP in the league. He made the NBA 75th Anniversary Team and apparently did everything possible in the league but won the league championship. He came close early in his career with the 2011-12 Thunder, but came up empty-handed against LeBron James and co.

Although he and King James may have had a better relationship before linking up in Los Angeles last season, staying together for an extra year and overcoming embarrassment would serve all parties involved. James could claim his fifth NBA title, Westbrook could get his first championship and the Lakers could claim 18th as a privilege, putting them well ahead of arch rivals the Boston Celtics.

Unfortunately, we can all read between the lines and accurately understand what’s going on. Westbrook doesn’t want to play for the Lakers anymore. His former agent wanted him to see the final year of his contract before his free agency test next summer. Once again, Westbrook’s complete lack of any self-awareness will be at his own expense. The Lakers might be decent, too.

It would be very funny if Westbrook was traded and the Lakers won the NBA Finals without him.
